Heavenly
When you're up for everything.
Prized for its stunning panoramic views of Lake Tahoe, epic tree skiing and 24-hour nightlife, Heavenly Mountain Resort is the market-leading winter sports destination at Lake Tahoe. For the 2007-2008 season Heavenly was the seventh most visited ski resort in the U.S., number one ranked resort at Lake Tahoe and seventeenth best resort in the nation by SKI Magazine. Purchased by Vail Resorts in 2002, Heavenly now enters a new phase of revitalization beginning with construction of Olympic Express, a new high-speed quad chairlift on the resort's Nevada side.
Tahoe's Most.
Heavenly boasts Lake Tahoe's highest summit elevation, greatest vertical rise and most skiable terrain: from steep, narrow chutes in Mott Canyon and Killebrew Canyon to thousands of tree-gladed acres and Gunbarrel, the world-famous mogul run. The resort is also a favorite among intermediate and beginner skiers for its expansive network of wide-open cruisers and expertly manicured groomed runs.
A 24-Hour Destination.
The wholly-unique experience waiting at the mountain's base, just steps from the Heavenly Gondola, draws year-round destination tourism and distinguishes Heavenly from every other ski resort in operation. Poised on the California-Nevada state line, rustic Heavenly Village is within walking distance of six major casino resort hotels featuring gaming, live music, headline entertainment, night clubs and endless dining and lodging options. Energetic groups of friends and families from major domestic and international markets flock to this ski-party Mecca, consistently placing it among the nation's most-visited resorts.
Just the Beginning.
New for 2007-2008, Heavenly's ten-year Master Plan for resort development received approval from governing agencies in April 2007 and phase one has commenced with the opening of Olympic Express in December 2007. The new lift, replacing the antiquated Olympic chair, provides rapid access to hundreds of acres of Heavenly's world-renowned tree skiing in Nevada Woods and surrounding glades and some of the resort's longest intermediate trails. Olympic Express is the first of several new high-speed lifts slated for construction over the next ten years in addition to three new on-mountain lodges.
Also new this winter is the Heavenly Sky Flyer at Adventure Peak. This elevated zip line cable ride will take guests on a 50-mile-an-hour thrill ride from the top of Tamarack Express back to the top of the Gondola, a vertical drop of 525 feet. At 3,100 feet, the Heavenly Sky Flyer will be the longest zip line in the lower 48 U.S. states.
